The Pythons.
They gave Spam a meaning, explored the meaning of liff, gave to us expressions such as "pythonesque", "Lemon-Curry", "Ni!", "The machine that goes PIIING", "splunge" etc we would dearly miss nowadays. They were or weren't the first to throw cows and holy handgrandes and graciously pointed out such minorities as Loonies, People with New Brains, People with Three Buttocks, Kamikaze Scotsmen or the Ministry of Silly Walks and showed us how to Confuse A Cat in the right way....
.... and, let's admit it, we all raise our hands to our heads, waggle our fingers and exclaim "bleaaaaarrrrgh" when there's a little bell to be heard in the evenings. Have we not all some time or other tried to buy cheese in a cheese shop?!
